Kane County Jail Overview
Kane County Jail is operated by the Kane County Sheriff's Office. The jail sits in the Kane County Public Safety Complex and is the county's local booking point after arrests. The county jail page says arrested people are brought to the facility, booked on criminal charges, and processed through basic personal information, fingerprints, and photos. Bail is set within 24 hours of arrest by a magistrate, and outcomes may include no bail, cash bail, or release on pretrial conditions.
The facility is also important to the state prison system. The UDC Jail Programs 2024 report lists Kane County Jail as male state-contract housing with 206 total jail beds and 166 beds available for Corrections. A UDC population profile counted 164 UDC inmates at Kane County Jail on June 16, 2023. Those figures describe state inmates housed locally by contract, not just people newly arrested in Kane County.
The county jail page is a useful local source for booking, bail, the jail commander, address, and phone information.

Kane County Jail Capacity
The best sourced capacity and population figures for Kane County Jail are from UDC. The jail has 206 total beds in the UDC Jail Programs 2024 report. Of those, 166 are contracted and available for Utah Department of Corrections housing. The June 2023 UDC population profile counted 164 state inmates located at the jail, nearly matching the later contract-bed figure.
Do not treat the 164 figure as the full current jail population. It counted UDC inmates in a state profile. A live local daily jail count, annual bookings, and average daily local detainee population were not found in official Kane County pages.
Look Up Kane County Jail Inmates
No official Kane County, Utah public online roster was located on the county website. A Kane County Jail search should therefore use a fallback chain. Local custody starts with the jail phone or an in-person inquiry. Written records use the sheriff's GRAMA process. State-sentenced inmates housed in the jail by contract may appear in the Utah DOC Offender Search instead.
- Call Kane County Jail at 435-644-4914 for a person believed to be held after a local arrest.

- Use the Kane County Sheriff Records Requests page when a written booking record, jail log, report, video, or booking photo is needed.
- Use UDC Offender Search when the person is sentenced to state custody or under UDC supervision.
- Use Utah VINE for custody or case notification rather than as the official booking record.
Kane County Jail Address
The jail and sheriff campus contact information should be used for custody questions, visitation confirmation, legal mail, and records direction. The county does not publish a separate jail records counter schedule in the research materials, so callers should confirm the correct visit or records path before travel.

Visit Kane County Jail
Kane County publishes two visitation schedule sources that do not fully match. The jail page summary lists Wednesday evening and weekend morning windows. The inmate information page gives broader daily onsite windows and says there are no visits during meal times. Because the county also says visiting times are subject to change, confirm through the jail or NCIC before traveling.
| Source | Days | Times | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kane County Jail page | Wednesday | 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. | Summary schedule |

Visitors must be pre-approved and on the inmate's approved list. Visits use the jail's video visitation system and may be limited to 15 minutes depending on volume. People with pending charges in any Kane County court may not visit, and people on probation through any court or AP&P may not visit. Minors must be with a parent or guardian. Visitors must dress modestly and may not bring food, drinks, smoking materials, or electronic devices into the visitation room.
Kane County Jail Mail
The Kane County inmate mail process changed in 2026. Personal mail should not be sent directly to the jail. Beginning April 1, 2026, all inmate mail except legal and medical mail must go to the Longview, Texas processing address, where it is scanned, electronically delivered, and destroyed. The county instructions warn that mail sent to that processing address will not be returned or released.

Personal mail must be 8.5 by 11 inches or smaller, five pages or fewer, written on the front side only, and limited to one photo per mailing. Magazines, newspapers, bulk mail, books, legal mail, and medical mail should not go to the Longview processing address. Items brought by visitors, except money, are not accepted unless jail administration approves them in writing.
Kane County Jail Booking
Booking at Kane County Jail begins when a person is brought to the facility after arrest. The county jail page says the person is booked on criminal charges, basic personal information is gathered, fingerprints are taken, and photos are taken. Bail is set within 24 hours by a magistrate. After that, a person may remain held without bail, receive a cash bail amount, post bond where allowed, or be released on pretrial conditions.
Kane County Pretrial Services is tied to the Sheriff's Office, County Attorney, Sixth District Court, and Kane County Justice Court. It supports qualifying releases while the person waits for a court hearing and uses the least restrictive conditions possible. A booking charge is not the final court charge. Formal charges and court dates should be checked through Utah Xchange, the Sixth District Court clerk, or the correct justice court.
Kane County Jail Programs
UDC Jail Programs 2024 describes Kane County Jail as having an extensive programming department and a Therapeutic Community structure. Jail deputies and security staff are described as trained in the Therapeutic Community Treatment Model. The program list is unusually detailed for a county jail because of the state-inmate placement role.
- FOCUS and Pre-FOCUS substance-use treatment programming.
- Pre-SOTP and core Sex Offender Therapy Program tracks.
- MRT, Cognitive Life Skills, education, Victim Impact, Inside Out Dad, and parenting programs.
- Religious services, AA and NA volunteer involvement, and family history indexing projects.
- UDC reported 36 volunteers providing about 100 hours of service per month.
UDC also reported that inmate work inside the facility saves about $45,000 per year. Those program facts relate mainly to state contract inmates and facility operations, not to a guarantee that a newly booked local detainee will enter a specific program.
Kane County Jail Records
Records held by the sheriff use the Kane County Sheriff's GRAMA process. A request should identify the person, date range, arrest or booking date, incident location, report or case number if known, and the exact record sought. Possible request terms include booking sheet, jail log entry, booking photograph, incident report, release information, bodycam, dashcam, or other video.
The sheriff's records page says the office has up to 10 business days from submission to release a record. The page also says private and protected records are released only to the subject of the record, as defined under Utah Code 63G-2-202, and that controlled records are not released. Fees can apply, including copy fees, video/DVD fees, and staff-time or search costs depending on the request scope.
About Kane County Jail
Kane County Jail is a rural county jail with a statewide correctional role. The county's detention map is simple because no separate work-release center, city jail, regional jail, state prison, federal prison, or ICE detention facility was located in official Kane County sources. The jail on Kaneplex Drive is therefore the practical detention hub for local custody, state contract housing, visitation questions, mail, money, and sheriff-held jail records.
Note: Confirm custody, visitation approval, mail rules, and bond status with Kane County Jail before travel or payment.
